Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK)
Stirling Elementary offers a full-day Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) program for children who are 3 or 4 years old by September 1st of the school year. This program is free for Florida four-year-olds and is supported by both state funding and Title 1 resources.
Because the VPK program is run directly by Broward County Public Schools’ Early Childhood Education department, families benefit from all the services and support the district provides.
Children in Stirling’s VPK program enjoy 6 hours of daily instruction, helping them build strong foundations in learning and social development before entering kindergarten.

INTELLECTUAL DISABILITY PROGRAM (IND)
Stirling Elementary is proud to offer a dedicated IND program for students with Intellectual Disabilities, starting at age 5. This program is part of a larger effort by Broward County Public Schools, which supports over 2,000 students with intellectual disabilities.
Each child’s learning plan is personalized through the IEP (Individualized Education Program) process to meet their unique needs. Support may include:
- Learning based on Florida Access Points for reading and math
- Lessons in science and social studies
- Life skills like communication, social behavior, and independence
- Therapies and services such as physical or occupational therapy, nursing, and specialized transportation
The goal is to help every child grow academically, socially, and emotionally in a supportive and inclusive environment.
